PO' BLACK FOLKS

NO RACE, NOT EVEN THE BLACK RACE, RESPECT THE BLACK RACE

I was passing a service station on Montpellier Avenue in Macon, Georgia when I saw a small group of black people picketing.

I stopped and asked them why were they picketing?

They said the owner-oriental male- had slapped a little black girl.

The picketers were asking the customers-only black customers shop there- to boycott the store and told them why.

While I was there, every black customer they approached ignored them, went inside and shopped.

Discussion topics:

Do you think the storeowner would have slapped a little white girl?

Why or why not,

If he would have slapped a little white girl, what do you think the reaction of the white people would have been?

Why do you think the black customers decided to continue to shop there even though they knew the owner had slapped a little black girl?

The same reason no one has responsed to your comment. They don't care. Yes po' black folks, when will we care about one another, when will we believe that we can make a difference if we stick together.... So we callousness, indifference, because we are tired..tired of struggling tired of fighting, tired of the same ole same oh. Faith and hope is our strength, but the struggle of fighting others, fighting ourselves, so we conclude: "What's the use"? Just a thought in reply to your question.

A lot of people and I don't think it's economic status in blacks has anything to do with it. Most people live there lives thinking well it didn't happen to me. That's your stuff and I'm not going to concern myself with it until it happens to me. I agree with Carol with the what's the use part. I think we complain but it isn't to the people who can and will make a difference. All to often we don't even complain in the right way

The problem for so long we have been taught to come against each other and not to respect others especially the black race. When we learn to stick together like other races do then we can not only own the car lot but the gas stations also.
